Relative geographical closeness of Ukraine and Jordan, the convenience of sea and air transportation, the complementary nature of national economies create objective preconditions for successful development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation and diversification of trade between the two countries.

This was stated during the meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maxim Martynyuk with the delegation of the Interparliamentary Group of Friendship with Ukraine of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan headed by Dr. Muhammad Saad Saalam al-Ataikh.

"Jordan remains one of the major consumers of traditional goods of Ukrainian agricultural exports - cereals, fats and oils. In addition, the kingdom can be considered as a kind of "gateway" for promoting Ukrainian products to other Arabian markets," Maxim Martynyuk said.

According to the Jordanian side, import of olive oil, dates and mineral fertilizers may be interesting for Ukraine.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Jordan, the highest level of bilateral trade in foreign trade of goods and services was in 2008 and exceeded $ 1 billion. From 2012 to 2015, trade and economic relations were characterized by a reduction in the volume of trade of goods and services in connection with the difficult financial and economic situation in the countries. At the same time, thanks to the active measures taken by the leadership of Jordan and Ukraine in 2016 and 2017, the growth of foreign trade in goods and services between the two countries had place.
